Kurdish Giveaway!

Welcome to the KURDISH GIVEAWAY!

THIS IS NOW CLOSED.

A few months ago, my housemate Mary Derstine and I decided to collaborate and do a special giveaway to promote our blogs and the place we've both grown to love, Kurdistan. Mary has served a total of 22 months over here, and is now back in the states. I am still currently in Kurdistan and have been for the last 20 months.

Mary Derstine is the captivating Author of a beautiful blog: https://marylynnderstine.wordpress.com/ She writes creative stories, as well as captures feeling and emotion in a thought provoking way. She has encouraging and entertaining guest posts as well that are always a pleasure to read. Plus, she does a much better job at posting faithfully, unlike me:)

HOW TO ENTER:

To enter this giveaway we ask that you:
1. Follow/Subscribe to both of our blogs (Mary's blog link is found above)
2. Comment something you would like for us to write about on one of our blog posts.

That's it. Really quite simple!

The winner will receive this absolutely beautiful handmade Kurdish rug, a local drink called '3 n 1' (a favorite among many volunteers and locals) and a tin mug from the local bazaar! With the current situation, the prize is still here in Kurdistan with me, but as soon as travel begins happening again, the prize will be sent to the winner in the states... I guess you will just get it in Kurdish timing:)

The giveaway will be open for 2 weeks, starting today (June 17, 2020) and ending July 1st. All are welcome and encouraged to enter!

That gift looks like really neat stuff!! I'd like to hear about a day in your life in Kurdistan. I've never been there, don't know much about it and I'm interested in what you're up to there. :)

What a great idea! A day in my life seems just so normal and mundane sometimes, I forget how interesting it might be for some who don't have the opportunity to experience it!
Whoo hoo! I wish I could enter for my own giveaway. :) Sadly,I won't. BUT I will say that I think you should write about our waterslide experience. I think people would like that. :)

You should write about your favorite place to go/thing to do in Kurdistan.

What were your first impressions of Kurdistan? Did it take a while to love the food and culture? What’s something it took a while to get used to?

Beautiful giveaway! I'd love to hear about what the hardest part of connecting with these rescued women is. How do you relate to such trauma and pain and fear. Besides prayer and helping with physical needs, how do you reach them emotionally?

I’m sure there’s more than one, but what is something that you have incorporated into your life there that you learned from the culture/ just in general that you would like to make part of your daily life when your come back to the U.S or wherever you go next? I hope that question makes sense!😊

Not sure if my other comment went threw so I’m posting again! I love hearing your take on interesting people you run into! Or if you have ever tried the English impersonation on somebody else you have never met! 😅

I would love to hear about funny things that happen to you when you are just living your life. For some reason it seems like interesting things are always happening to you! I love reading and laughing at your stories!

I would love to hear about how you decided to go and why. I’ve really enjoyed seeing your Instagram posts for quite a while, but didn’t know you had a blog. If you’ve already written about that, another interesting topic would be how you see your impact there traveling back home to that states with you. What are you learning there that you’d like to apply stateside? Or how has this changed your perception in some way? (If any of that has happened)

This is such a great giveaway. You have done a great job. And I want to read more about the experiences you have been through in being to many new places like Kurdistan.
